The Canon Powershot SD450 is a very compact but elegant camera with several little improvements over similar Canon models. The camera weighs in at 5.5 ounces, and that includes the storage card and battery. It has the smallest volume in a roundup of reviewed cameras, but this is probably the reason why some of the labels are almost too small to read. The SD450 does have many valuable features, given its size. The 2.5-inch LCD screen is bright and sharp, so is the optical viewfinder - these 2 things make it unique in a lineup of compact cameras. It takes photos at 5 megapixels, with a maximum of 3x optical zoom. An automatic lens cover opens and closes, depending on whether the camera is turned on or off. However, the reviewer noticed a few drawbacks, including the SD450’s lack of internal memory (it does come with an unimpressive 16MB card). The dual menu system of the SD450 isn’t user-friendly for beginners, and the viewfinder lacks any informational display apart from crosshairs. This camera is a great point-and-shoot camera, even if the image quality is middling. Its performance was always consistent, and the images didn’t have any noticeable flaws.
