The HG10 is Canon’s entry into the AVCHD arena. Compact, well-balanced, and built with a plethora of new features, shooting with the HG10 adds up to great looking HD video. Most video manipulation and navigation keys are located in the robust LCD that could withstand hard pressing. Focusing with the HG10 is not a problem, as it takes one second to focus on a distant static object as well as a moving subject. Though a manual focus option is available, the reviewer states that the lack of a real focus ring is one of the reasons why this camera is not considered by more serious videographers. As for the color, the HG10 produced rich and fully saturated colors. According to the reviewer, the Auto white balance of the HG10 was among the most accurate they’ve tested. If the deciding factor in choosing a camera is the image quality, the HG10 would be quite hard to ignore.
