Canon Digital Rebel XT Reviews

Summary of review published by Digital Camera Magazine — April, 2006 (page 40)

The first drawback that the reviewer noticed about the Digital Rebel XT is that its grip is meant for petite hands. With that drawback out of the way, the reviewer focused on the Digital Rebel’s strengths. First, this digital SLR is rich in features, letting users take great photographs. The best part is that the camera is user-friendly - you don't need to spend hours trying to learn how to get all those features to work. The camera takes photos at an 8 megapixel resolution, 8 pre-programmed basic modes, has full manual control, and lets you print photos directly via a PictBridge port. It also has more flexible programmed modes for more advanced users, as well as shutter and aperture priority. The Digital Rebel also has A-DEP feature that estimates the distance of objects in your shot and automatically calculates the settings needed to keep them all sharp. You can store your photos via CompactFlash card, and a USB 2.0 connection lets you send photos to your computer. Don’t worry about shooting at night either - a small button lets you see the camera’s settings in the dark. Overall, the camera takes impressive, high-quality photos.
Pros:
-Buttons and panels are intuitive to use
-Really smart A-DEP feature that computes the depth of field of objects in your shot to make sure they all come out sharp
-Great handling for portrait mode
-Functions are applied quickly and without noticeable lag
Cons:
-Weak grip
