CalDigit S2VR HD eSATA Array Reviews

Summary of review published by VideoMaker — March, 2007

The S2VR HD array comes in two boxes: one contains the drives, and the other box contains the array to put them in. Along with an eSATA card with four connectors, an orange eSATA cable, driver software, and a quick-start leaflet. The card is a FASTA-4e four-port PCI-eSATA 3G Host Adapter, based on the Silicon Image 3124 chips. Just log in, and click on the S2VR in the configuration manager to build the RAID configuration of your choice. Serial numbers of the device and its drives are readily indicated, as is the status of power supply and fan, the temperature of the device, and the firmware version installed. The CalDigit S2VR HD is highly recommended. It's an exceptionally fast drive for a very reasonable price. It's easy to setup and put together, and it's an extremely flexible device. Though not as easy to setup as a USB or FireWire drive, the CalDigit S2VR HD is still worth a look for its exceptional speed.
Pros:
-Fast
-Easy to set-up
-Can be expanded
Cons:
-No RAID 5 configuration
