Buffalo 320 GB Ministation TurboUSB Reviews
Summary of review published by PC Magazine — June, 2008
Buffalo 320 GB MiniStation TurboUSB gives you a portable hard drive with fast data transfer rates. It measures 0.8 by 3.3 by 5 inches making it ultra portable. Buffalo claims that the device’s cushioning system will make the drive survive a 5-foot drop. Its detachable USB cable can wrap around its sides so you can be sure that it is neatly tucked and won’t be misplaced. One thing the reviewer wishes is that the warranty comes in a much longer period than one year. But that’s the only thing he dislikes about it. Compared with other 320GB portable drives, Buffalo 320GB MiniStation TurboUSB scored higher in terms of data transfer speed.
Pros:
-Shock proof
-Detachable USB cord
-TurboUSB technology
-Has spare USB power cable
-Fast performance
Cons:
-Comes with only one year warranty
-Installation of a utility needed for TurboUSB to be used
-Doesn’t have any disaster recovery software

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — April, 2008
It won’t win any beauty contest, but the Buffalo 320GB MiniStation TurboUSB is one big, solid portable storage device. It combines fast transfer speeds, a large amount of storage space, backup and security software in a package that the reviewer states you might find dull. In exchange for dullness is a lightweight, sturdy as well as shock-resistant chassis. Once plugged in, the MiniStation TurboUSB was immediately recognized by both the Mac and the PC. However, the reviewer noted that the plug and play aspect wasn’t quite complete due to the management software that is not preinstalled on the device. What makes the MiniStation TurboUSB even better is the claim of an increase in write speeds of up to 25 percent. Tested with the TurboUSB activated, write speed increased by 17 percent and was fastest among four other storage devices. For security, the TurboUSB comes with Memeo’s AutoBackup software, an AES-grade encryption and the SecureLockWare. However, the encryption had to be configured specifically for the drive, something which the reviewer finds unnecessary. Despite the hurdle of getting the encryption running and the additional chore of having to install the software, the Buffalo 320GB MiniStation TurboUSB is a very solid choice.
Pros:
-Large storage space
-TurboUSB increases write-speeds
-Compatible with Mac and Windows
-Backup software included
Cons:
-Encryption software needs to be configured still
-Software not pre-loaded
