Brother MFC-7840W Reviews

Total Rating: 8 of 10

Summary of review published by PC Magazine — October, 2008

Rated 4 of 5

Deviating from the common notion that monochrome laser all-in-ones are meant only for personal use, the Brother MFC-7840W delivers a full feature-set that is worthy of your small-office or home-office network. It measures a compact 12 by 16.9 by 15.6 inches and weighs only 24.5 pounds. The MFC-7840W can do printing, faxing, and scanning over a network. It also works as a standalone copier and has a 35-page automatic document feeder for multipage documents. Setup is a breeze and involves loading the toner and plugging in the power cord and phone line. The reviewer noted that the MFC-7840W took a total 7 minutes 51 seconds on a business applications suite. Fonts are well formed at 6 points, with some qualifying at 4 points. Image quality is just average and a touch below the professional level. There was visible dithering in the form of patterns and a tendency for thin lines to disappear. It also doesn’t have a duplexer that would've allowed for printing on both sides of the page. Nonetheless, the MFC-7840W has enough features to make it a good option for an all-in-one monochrome laser.
Pros:
-speedy
-standalone copier and fax machine
-ethernet and Wi-Fi connections supported
-with automatic document feeder

Cons:
-no duplexer
