Most small offices house an all-in-one printer that is limited to letter and legal size. The AIO printer that prints and scans tabloid size can cost a fortune - that is, until the Brother MFC-6490CW was introduced. It measures 12.7 by 21.3 by 19.2 inches and weighs a reasonable 34.4 pounds. Despite having a tag price of only $300, the MFC-6490CW doesn’t hold back on features. It prints, scans, and faxes over a network. It works as a standalone fax machine and copier as well. You can also attach a scanned document to an email via the MFC-6490CW. What sets the MFC-6490CW apart from other low-cost AIOs are the tabloid-size flatbed and the 50 -page automatic document feeder that can handle tabloid-size documents. While it's rich in features, the MFC-6490CW is lacking in the speed department. The reviewer noted that it took a total of 19 minutes 10 seconds in their business applications suite. Photo printing didn’t fare any better, averaging 3:49 for each 4-by-6 and 8:50 for each 8-b-10. Text quality is good enough for most business needs but short of the top quality. Photos had true photo quality, but at the low end of the range. If you are on the prowl for an AIO that prints tabloid-size documents without breaking the bank, the Brother MFC-6490CW is a good choice.
Pros:
-can print and scan up to tabloid-size documents
-features an automatic document feeder
Cons:
-slow
-no duplex
