Bogen/Manfrotto 501HDV Tripod Reviews

Summary of review published by VideoMaker — June, 2007

The Bogen/Manfrotto 501HDV tripod is designed ready to hoist large HDV camcorders but works with regular DV camcorders as well. It features a more stable crutch design. The spreaders work appropriately regardless of the setup, allowing high angles and low-angle shooting when most other designs can’t. When folding the legs to move locations, the spreaders get in the way sometimes, though you can completely remove them if you should choose to. When folded, the 501HDV is ready for transport, and the head protects the Pan Friction knob. With the Bogen/Manfrotto 501HDV tripod, you won’t need to worry about the angles or height.
Pros:
-Adjustable pan and tilt
-Balanced design
-Decent build quality
Cons:
-Weight
-Spreader can get in the way
