There are times when a cheap, no-frills Bluetooth headset just won’t cut it. For those occasions, there is the BlueAnt’s Z9i headset. It has an identical shape and button layout as the BlueAnt V1, and measures 1.6 x 0.7 x 0.4 inches, giving it a short and stout look. It comes with two long, rotating earhooks: one made of plastic, and one with a metal tip coated in rubber. Bundled with the Z9i are two earpieces for a comfortable and sturdy fit. The Z9i has noise-cancellation technology. It works by using two microphones to identify human voices, enhancing and isolating them from ambient noises. While the technology looked good on paper, the reviewer noted that it was unimpressive. Background noise from calls made outdoors was still distracting. Aside from the noise-cancellation technology, the Z9i also has multipoint technology that allows the unit to pair with up to 5 different devices, including two phones. Battery life is rated for 5.5 hours of talk time. If you are after the best headset when it comes to noise-cancellation, you might want to look elsewhere. Otherwise, the BlueAnt’s Z9i is a decent headset at an affordable price.
