With a sleek design, 10 hours of listening time, 28 watts of power, and a bass-boosting feature, the BlueAnt M1 Portable Stereo Speakers looked like an instant hit. It weighs 2.5 pounds, and a black metal grille wraps the front and top of the unit. A metal-looking knob serves as the volume control for the M1. Surrounding the knob are the playback controls which are encircled by a brushed metal ring. There is no doubt that the M1 looks sleek. However, when it came to performance, the M1 wasn’t up to the task. When paired via Bluetooth, the bass was thick and distinguished, but it wasn’t crisp enough. The bass-boosting feature added only to the low-end sound but caused distortion at medium volume levels. Also, the M1 doesn’t have speakerphone capabilities. On the other hand, once it was connected via a 3.5mm cable, the music sounded crisper and clearer. The reviewer noted that the low range didn’t overpower the highs, and the highs sounded full. If your needs for a Bluetooth speaker is strictly for music purposes, the BlueAnt M1 Portable Stereo Speakers might appeal to you. But given the low quality of audio over Bluetooth and the lack of speakerphone capabilities, you might want to look elsewhere.
