However, small dollies needed the operator to walk along with them, making it difficult for the operator to compose the frame. The whole gamut of movements required to successfully capture a shot is a challenge to even the most seasoned professionals. The Axis Dolly tries to make things a bit easier by allowing a great amount of flexibility in a robust, well-constructed, small system. It has a triangular-shaped platform with three sets of wheels, one at each tip of the triangle. Each of those wheels is adjustable within single-degree increments, and they can be set in certain configurations to make the dolly travel in a straight line or in a curve, giving you freedom from dolly tracks. While the Axis Dolly may look odd at first glance, spending a little time with it is all you really need to make you fall in love.
