Audio-Technica 1800 Series ATW-1823 Reviews

Summary of review published by VideoMaker — December, 2007

Can You Hear Me Now?!

Getting every bit of stray RF signal while shooting with a low-end VHF wireless mic can be quite a pain. If this sounds familiar, then the 1800 Series wireless system by Audio-Technica may provide you with the solution. Operating in the UHF range, there is less interference and stronger output, making it more desirable than the VHF system. With features such as ToneLock squelch, two antennae, and hundreds of selectable frequencies, getting the right signal isn’t a problem anymore. Tested both indoors and outdoors, the 1800 series performed well, though the reviewer states that the range specs for outdoors are quite exaggerated. For the prosperous professional, the 1800 Series is a high-end wireless system that will give good service.
Pros:
- Clear audio signal
- Subtle dropouts
- Tough exterior
- Secure connection
Cons:
- Range specs exaggerated
- Faint transmitter backlight
