The newest iteration of Apple’s flagship media application, the iTunes 8, offers several new compelling features. When run for the first time, iTunes creates artwork thumbnails for the new Grid View that displays your music library using album-cover art, but in a decidedly two-dimensional fashion. The reviewer noted that the main attraction of iTunes 8 is the brand-new feature called Genius. It creates playlists from songs in your library that go together. It will gather information about your iTunes library, sends that information to Apple, and then delivers your Genius results during the setup. The reviewer stated that there are some limitations, like an error dialog box that pops up when it can’t work on a certain song. The iTunes Store includes NBC shows and offers high-definition episodes of television shows as well. The iTunes Visualizer is also updated and a couple of minor security enhancements were thrown in for good measure. However, it still lacks some key features such as an online library streaming option. Nonetheless, the Genius feature and the HD offering of the iTunes Store make the iTunes 8 an even better media suite for both Mac and PC computers.
