There are only a few features that differentiate the second generation iPod Touch from its precursor. It still has the same dimensions, the same 3.5-inch multi-touch display, built-in Wi-Fi and an integrated accelerometer. And just like the original Touch, the design is still the same - black front with a stainless steel. The new features include volume controls and a built-in speaker. The reviewer noted that the speaker sounded very tinny and produced less volume when compared with the iPhone, while complex games have fewer lags when compared to the 1G Touch. Applications that previously took 20 seconds to a minute to install are now ready to roll within 7 seconds. Battery life also got an upgrade, increasing from 22 hours to a very respectable 36 hours of audio (or 6 hours of video). While it still has some of the quirks the original Touch possessed, such as the absence of e-mail search and no cut-and-paste function when surfing the Web, the new features of the latest iPod Touch iteration make an already great portable media player even better.
