Apple Time Capsule Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — April, 2008

Backing up files can be a drag, even for a Mac user. However, with Apple Time Capsule 1TB, backing up just became easy and fast. The Apple Time Capsule 1TB is a dual purpose device: a wireless router combined with a fast network drive. Tests were conducted on the Time Capsule to check the performance of the network drive, and the results were blistering. The reviewer stated that raw data transfer of a 700mb file took only 45 seconds, the fastest they have seen. Doubling also as a router, it is an exact replica of Apple’s AirPort Extreme that is why the Time Capsule can achieve speeds of up to 120 mbps at 5 meters. It does have a few drawbacks, such as the lack of media streaming support as well as the option for remote access. But despite these flaws, the smooth integration of the Time Capsule with Apple’s Time Machine makes it the better software backup solution.
Pros:
-Very fast performance
-Integrates with Time Machine
-Decent router performance

Cons:
-No remote access
-No music streaming
