Featuring a unibody aluminum construction, one-of-a-kind touchpad, and edge-to-edge glass display, the new MacBook is indeed a looker. Just like the MacBook Air, it has an aluminum chassis with rounded edges. It's made from one piece of metal, called the unibody, which makes it more resistant to breakage. The keyboard is whisper-quiet and comfortable to type on. The touchpad still allows users to manipulate on-screen objects through multi-touch gestures. It doesn't have buttons anymore because the entire pad now doubles as a button. The 13.3-inch, 1280 x 800-pixel screen is beautiful because of the seamless, edge-to-edge bezel. Color reproduction is good and playback is smooth as well. The MacBook has two USB 2.0 ports, a mini DisplayPort, a MagSafe power port, and an Ethernet jack. Conspicuously missing are the FireWire port and the ExpressCard slot. The MacBook also showed zippy performance during testing, booting up in just 42 seconds. Graphics performance tests showed that the integrated GeForce 9400M card is 2.5 times faster than Intel’s integrated graphics, which the reviewer found to be impressive. Battery life lasted 4 hours and 45 minutes, which is almost 45 minutes longer than the average. The MacBook is a gorgeous and sturdy notebook that's well worth the premium.
