Apple Airport Extreme Base Station with Gigabit Ethernet Reviews

Summary of review published by PC Magazine — January, 2008

Apple Airport Extreme Base Station with Gigabit Ethernet is a wireless router for home and small office use. It is priced higher than most routers in the market considering it doesn’t have any firewall. It operates in both 2.4-GHz and 5-GHz bands. Just like any Apple product, this router looks good. Unlike most routers, this doesn’t have any web-based setup. This means more work for the end users. To install, a disc with the installer is provided. This is for Mac and Windows users. There is no Linux support. Setting it up is easy and quick. Just stick with its default setting and you will do just fine. It is an Apple product that is made specifically with Macs in mind.
Pros:
-Overall performance is good
-Easy setup
-Lets you share an USB drive over a network
Cons:
-Made specifically for Mac
-No firewall protection
-Except for WP2, it has problems with security
