Altec Lansing iM7 Reviews

Summary of review published by Digital Camera Magazine — April, 2006 (page 25)

The Altec Lansing iM7 iPod speakers are portable, battery-operated, and can produce great sound at almost any volume level. One surprising feature of the iM7 is the video output, which lets you show your iPod’s stored photos on any device that receives RCA composite video or S-Video input. Another convenient feature is that the headphone jack is located at the back of the device, rather than the front. Despite the positive qualities of the iM7, the reviewer noticed a few faults. The speakers are covered in steel mesh grills, which tend to be prone to denting. Also, users shouldn’t lose the remote control - the bass and treble controls are present on the remote, but not on the speaker control panel itself. Although the iM7 is portable, the reviewer is hesitant to take it along on a trip because it’s too bulky and attractive. You may use the iM7 speakers to charge or power up your iPod, but you won’t be able to sync it with your computer. The bottom line is that the iM7 is engineered to produce great sound, and the sleek look of the system makes other speakers look ordinary.
Pros:
-Sleek design
-Produces great quality sound at any volume level
-Has video output for your iPod’s photos
Cons:
-The steel grills covering the speakers don’t seem that durable
-Bass and treble controls are only present on the remote control
