ALK’s latest notebook-based GPS navigator iteration, CoPilot Live 11, is an improvement over its less than successful predecessor, the CoPilot Live. It comes with a magnetic GPS receiver and a long USB cable. The CoPilot’s interface is dominated by a large map view which is easy and simple to follow. However, the reviewer noted that the structure of the menu is too complex, making it easy to miss certain available options. While the software offers three American English voice options, only one pronounces street names. On the other hand, rerouting takes only 3 to 4 seconds every time. With the CoPilot Live 11, the user can save trips, create multi-stop routes, and preview directions before setting off. It comes with a POI database of 6 million entries. Searching through this database was a hit-and-miss affair. Basic category search will sometimes yield results, and sometimes, it will return nothing. When something does come up, the reviewer stated that it’s usually relevant and up to date. For those in the market for a notebook-based GPS navigator, the CoPilot Live 11 is a strong choice - just make sure you get the USB edition of the product.
