The first entry of Acer into the world of mini-notebooks, the Aspire One Linpus Linux Lite, gets its Windows counterpart. Still sporting the sleek and small design, the Sapphire Blue Aspire One looks far from looking cheap, but it has a lid with a glossy finish that attracts light fingerprints and smudges. The Aspire One is very portable, weighing only 3 pounds with the AC adapter. The 89% full-size keyboard is a joy to use, providing nice tactile feedback and is comfortable for touch typing. However, the trackpad is small and very narrow vertically. It comes with the traditional ports along with an additional SD Card slot on the left. With this new iteration, though, the need for an SD card is eliminated, thanks to the generous 120GB HDD. The Aspire One has an 8.9-inch display with a native resolution of 1024 x 600 that offers good horizontal viewing angles. Powered by the 1.6-GHz Intel Atom processor and 1GB of RAM, multitasking wasn’t a problem. The 3-cell battery only lasted 2 hours and 22 minutes before needing a charge. Despite some minor flaws, in the field of mini-notebooks, the XP version of Aspire One offers the best value for your money.
Pros:
-portable
-good feature set for its price
-comfortable keyboard
Cons:
-short battery endurance
-awkward touchpad buttons
