ASUS U6V Reviews

Summary of review published by Laptop Magazine — September, 2008

There is no doubt that the ASUS U6V is indeed fashionable. It measures 11.7 x 8.6 x 1.2 inches and weighs only 3.8 pounds. The lid features a rich, mocha brown Shimmering Fiber paint job. Lift it up and you’ll immediately see the palmrest that’s overlaid with premium brown leather, giving it a very classy appeal. The keyboard is spacious and comfortable and the touchpad is sized just right. It has the usual ports you’d need including HDMI, eSATA, an 8-in-1 memory card reader and ExpressCard slot. The 12.1-inch glossy display provided crisp and bright images, as well as excellent viewing angles. Performance-wise, benchmark scores are above the category average. While it’s branded as a business notebook, the reviewer noted that the U6V has some graphics muscle, making it suitable for light gaming. Security features include a fingerprint reader and the company’s SmartLogon facial recognition technology which utilizes the notebook’s 0.3-megapixel web cam. Wi-Fi throughput is above average. The six-cell battery, on the other hand, provided power for a meager 3 hours and 11 minutes on a charge. For the road warrior who wants a fashionable, well-rounded machine, the ASUS U6V is a compelling option.
Pros:
-stylish
-good graphics performance
-large storage space
-fast boot
Cons:
-short battery life
-low speaker volume
-no mobile broadband option
