Dubbed by the reviewer as the Mercedes-Benz of mini-notebooks, the ASUS Eee PC S101 is certainly a head-turner. Measuring only 10.3 x 7.0 x 0.7 inches and weighing only 2.4 pounds, it is currently the thinnest and lightest in its category. It comes with a glossy copper brown lid, a chrome trim and Swarovski crystals in the groove of the hinge. The keyboard’s layout is spacious, though the reviewer noted that the Shift key is awkwardly placed to the right of the Up arrow key. The touchpad is coated in a brushed metal and the 1000H’s left and right buttons are replaced with a single bar that’s more comfortable and easy to press. It has the requisite ports you’d look for in a netbook. The 10.2-inch, 1024 x 600-pixel, LED-backlit screen looked sharp but colors were muted. The S101 provided snappy performance and average benchmark scores. The integrated graphics, on the other hand, is 48 points lower than the category average. The two-cell battery provided 3 hours and 32 minutes of power - higher than the average. The S101 also provided strong wireless performance with a throughput of 20.3 Mbps at 15 feet and 19.9 Mbps at 50 feet. If style is your first priority, the $699 Eee PC S101 is currently the best looking mini-notebook in the market.
