Combining low price, light weight and an intuitive interface, the ASUS EEE became very popular to consumers. And with its new release, ASUS is bringing in the EEE line the comfort of a Windows operating system. Retaining the same size and weight, the EEE can still fit in your slim briefcase and because it weighs only 2 pounds, you can easily forget it’s there. Just like most notebooks with a 7-inch display, windows have the tendency to extend outside. ASUS provided a utility that will let you switch up to an 800 x 600 viewing mode. The biggest trade-off is the storage size. Offering only a paltry 4GB SSHD, the reviewer feels that more is needed. And now that it runs Windows XP, more storage just became a necessity. Performance test conducted on the EEE showed the unit booting after a respectable 40 seconds. Applications loaded quickly and multi-tasking wasn’t a problem. Battery life was good, clocking in at 2 hours and 40 minutes before needing a recharge. Add in the power-saving options of XP and you can expect an increase in endurance. Despite these minor flaws, the EEE is still a big bargain given its features and unbeatable price.
